== Octavian career == In 2024, Hauwahrt joined Octavium under Aleczaender as Consul, alongside his longtime confidant and mentor Wilhelm Rosenberg, who was made Imperator the same day. Their appointment to the group's highest titles over many longtime veterans came as a shock to the Octavian Supreme Command and led to considerable court intrigue. As Aleczaender sought to expand Papal diplomacy and influence, Hauwahrt was appointed Minister of Holy Affairs to support the Madrid Papacy. === Consolidation of power === Wilhelm Rosenberg proposed a restructuring of Octavium's leadership, which Aleczaender accepted. The proposal made Rosenberg and Hauwahrt the supreme authorities over national affairs, allowing Aleczaender to focus on development projects. The decision provoked significant opposition from the established leadership. The following period saw a systematic purge of Aleczaender's original supporters, known as the "old guard." Prominent figures such as Patrick and Oswald were exiled within two months on charges of treason and disobedience, which later accounts suggest were often manufactured to sideline opposition. The takeover was finalized on 19 April 2024 with The Octavian Constitution of 1953, which legally entrenched Hauwahrt and Wilhelm's authority and made their removal exceptionally difficult. By then, less than 25% of the Imperial Command was made up of the old guard. Patrick J. Smith, Aleczaender's chief loyalist, described Hauwahrt as one of "Aleczaender's most brutal and most ruthless henchmen." Hauwahrt became the gatekeeper to Aleczaender, controlling access to the Caudillo and filtering the information that reached him. He personally vetted and approved appointments to the Supreme Command, often without Aleczaender's direct input. During one group-wide officer meeting, he reportedly told a political rival, in front of Aleczaender, that he would have them shot if they spoke to Aleczaender without his permission. By late November 2024, a purge had begun targeting members who were gay or non-Catholic. His efforts culminated on 14 December 2024, when Aleczaender was crowned Emperor of Octavium and All-Spain by Pope Pius XIII in a ceremony attended by over 200 citizens and foreign dignitaries. The same day, the Lateran Treaties were signed, relocating the Holy See and Roman Curia to Vatican City and establishing the relationship between the Octavian Imperium and the newly independent Papacy as the Pontificate. In recognition of his financial contributions to the Pontificate through its UGC, Hauwahrt was elevated to the College of Cardinals on 24 December 2024 as a Cardinal-Nephew, a position of considerable influence within the papal court. === Downfall === By early 2025, the Octavium Imperium faced severe internal and external crises. The state was caught in a prolonged "DMCA war," worsened by Aleczaender's antagonistic foreign policy, which alienated potential allies and veterans. Frequent civil wars and uprisings led many members to leave. Seeking stability, Hauwahrt and Wilhelm arranged the return of the exiled veteran Patrick J. Smith in March 2025, intending to install him as leader while they took advisory roles. Smith soon lost motivation, however, and support from external nations, including those of Stalemated, faded after Aleczaender's reclusive and uncooperative attitude drove them away. In May 2025, Hauwahrt privately announced his retirement from Octavian duties, followed shortly by Smith's departure to form a rival nation in America. Angered by these defections and by Hauwahrt's retained ownership of the Papal holdings, Aleczaender moved to cut ties with both, but Wilhelm convinced him at the last minute to keep them in government. The following day, Hauwahrt and Wilhelm made an unscheduled state visit to Lenburg, Teutonnia, to meet the newly appointed Realmspresident DerSpiess. A deal was struck to surrender all Octavian claims in France to the Teutonnian occupation forces in exchange for positions in the new French Military Administration. Eyewitnesses reported that after the agreement was signed, the remaining Octavian delegates were killed by Teutonnian Rulerescortcommando guards. Aleczaender then ordered the banishment of Wilhelm and Hauwahrt, ending Hauwahrt's Octavian career and the Rosenberg era. On 2 May 2025, Realmsgovernor Wilhelm Rosenberg told the Teutonnian press:<blockquote>"Today is History, and YOU are apart of it. I am incredibly happy with this visit, it went swimmingly. Der Spiess is an excellent man, a man of character and resolve. So much so that we have struck a fantastically beneficial deal for Teutonnia and her government. Under my official decree, all of France is to be evacuated by Octavian Forces. Control will be handed to the much more responsible, stable, and fanatic Teutonnian Forces. I hereby pledge my allegiance to Teutonnia and her countrymen, whom I have always owed my true allegiance to. As a Rosenberg, a man of Germanic roots, this is my home. Triumph Teutonnia."</blockquote> === Trial of Aleczaender === On 24 June 2025, the Octavium Imperium was thrown into crisis by a faction of former intelligence officers known as the RCR (Roblox Criminal Records), who accused Emperor Aleczaender of failing to address corruption within the Octavian elite. The RCR published over 250 pages of evidence against Aleczaender and his inner circle, causing a major scandal across Europe. The Greater Teutonnic Realm, together with coup leader Mike Invicta, organized an international tribunal. Aleczaender, by then imprisoned, agreed to stand trial on the condition that it last no longer than one day and that he could select two of the four jurors. On 29 June 2025, Hauwahrt and Patrick were selected as jurors by both the tribunal and Aleczaender. Aleczaender reportedly appealed to their Christian duty for leniency, without success. Hauwahrt later quoted Saint Thomas More in his memoir: "I am the King's good servant, but God's first." During the trial on 6 July 2025, Hauwahrt played a key role in discrediting Aleczaender's defense, dismissing two witnesses and charging Aleczaender with perjury. Near the end of the trial, Leutgard called a recess to discuss a plea deal in Aleczaender's favor. Multiple sources present at the closed-door negotiations reported that Hauwahrt opposed leniency despite his fellow jurors. The negotiations failed, and the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict on both counts. Aleczaender was exiled from Europe, and Octavium fell into unrest without leadership. After the trial, Aleczaender attempted to take control of Octavium's Discord server holders. A week after the verdict, Hauwahrt locked him out of all holder accounts and servers, securing every branch and divisional server along with Aleczaender's new "Zaenderism" server, which was renamed "Evil Howardism." For this and the safe return of Leutgard's property, he was awarded the Order of Teutonnia in Silver.
